Oak Box Frame: Vintage Owl Fan
This delightful hand painted vintage fan is box framed using a deep moulding profile in solid oak.
After sanding and sealing, the frame was hand finished with several coats of clear wax.
The fan itself was mounted on conservation board with hand cut 30mm deep matching spacers. This frame was glazed with conservation grade glass - this has a 99% UV filter coating. This glass also has a lower iron content than float glass resulting in a marked decrease in 'colour shift'.
The painted greys on the fan appear less dark than they would have done under regular float glass. The oak moulding is a flat 20 x 48mm profile and the overall size of this frame is 260 x 370mm.
