Two Photographs of Samuel Beckett
Samuel Beckett
1976 Bromide Print © Estate of Jane Bown Jane Bown's now iconic portrait of Beckett taken outside the Royal Court Theatre in 1976.
This was bought in for reframing, the Museum grade mount (signed by Bown) was retained, the rather heavy black Ash frame was replaced with a 15 x 32mm Tulipwood, hand painted in Farrow & Ball's Railings. The regular glass was replaced with Museum glass to protect the print from light damage (the signature shows some fading) and allow the fine detail to be seen. The frame size is 540 x 680 mm. |

1961 © Michael Peto/University of Dundee, Peto Collection. A wonderful portrait of Samuel Beckett seated in his Paris apartment, taken in 1961 by Michael Peto.
The photograph has no mount, it has been secured on acid free board with conservation tape and placed directly into a Box Frame. The frame moulding is a 13 x 37 mm flat Tulipwood, painted with Downpipe by Farrow & Ball. The overall size is 525 x 425mm and it is glazed with Museum glass. |
