Two Photographs of Samuel Beckett
Samuel Beckett
1976 Bromide Print © Estate of Jane Bown Jane Bown's now iconic portrait of Samuel Beckett taken outside the Royal Court Theatre in 1976.
This work was bought in for reframing. The museum grade mount, signed by Bown, was retained. The previous rather heavy black ash wood frame was replaced with a poplar wood 15 x 32mm profile. This was hand finished and then painted in Farrow & Ball's Railings. The regular glass was replaced with AR/UV 99 museum grade glass to protect the print from light damage - the signature showed some fading. The frame size is 540 x 680 mm. |

1961 © Michael Peto/University of Dundee, Peto Collection. A wonderful portrait of Samuel Beckett seated in his Paris apartment, taken in 1961 by Michael Peto.
The photograph has no mount, it has been secured on acid free board with conservation tape and placed directly into a box frame. This frame moulding is a 13 x 37 mm flat poplar wood. It was finished by hand and then painted using Downpipe from the Farrow & Ball range. The overall size is 525 x 425mm and it is glazed with AR/UV 99 glass. |
