Red Dao Embroidery
A small, intricate embroidery by the Red Dao people of North Vietnam. It features the stylised motifs of mountains and trees characteristic of their work.
The cloth has been secured to the dark grey conservation board by stitching. The wood for the box frame is beechwood in a 10 x 22mm profile. The frame was hand finished and painted in Farrow & Ball's De Nimes, a beautiful grey blue.
This box frame has 10mm hand cut spacers in the same grey coloured board used for the mount. The glass here is AR/UV, which has both an anti-reflective coating and ultra violet filter to help protect the fabric from light damage. The frame is 275 x 250mm overall in size.
