Japanese Woodblock Prints
A group of four coloured Japanese woodblock prints.
These four frames use the same profile, a flat 13 x 13mm. The two prints of women are a pair and have been framed identically with window mounts in conservation board chosen to match the pale yellow cream of the prints. The poplar wood frames have been hand painted using Railings from Farrow & Ball - a dark grey with a blue cast.
The set has two prints by Hiroshige Ando (1707 - 1858). The 'Temple' print is again framed in poplar but here the frame is stained a reddish brown and the mount is off-white.
The second Ando print, 'Shower', is framed in American white oak with a natural finish. The window mount is a deep creamy yellow. All these prints have been glazed in conservation grade glass in order to protect them against light damage.
