Clare Winsten (1894 -1989)

Three drawings by Clare Winsten exhibited at 31 Fournier Street in 2015.

The pencil portrait of Barbara, c.1920, is housed in a solid Cherrywood Box Frame, float mounted on Conservation board with matching 15mm spacers. The frame has been glazed with Water White glass and measures 385 x 320mm.

The charming ink drawing on blue paper, from a sketchbook, is displayed float mounted on a dark grey Conservation board with matching 10mm spacers. This Box Frame is constructed from 20 x 22 mm Tulipwood which has been hand painted using Mole's Breath by Farrow & Ball. The frame is glazed with Museum glass (anti-VU filter and anti-reflective coating) as the paper used for the drawing appears to be sugar paper which is especially prone to light damage. This frame is 420 x 320mm overall.

The chalk portrait of a woman in a shawl probably dates from about 1940. This drawing is float mounted inside a Conservation window mount and placed in a Cherrywood Box Frame. The handcut 15mm deep spacers match the mountboard and Water White glass has been used here. This framed drawing measures 315 x 280mm and is for sale at £145.00.
