This painting is titled after the song, co-written with Dave Rotheray, by the Irish singer and song writer Eleanor McEvoy.
It utilises a tray frame which was designed by the artist. It is an example of a composite frame, here two mouldings have been joined together. The wood is obeche and the outer profile is gently curved, while the inner is flat. Both have been stained but treated differently. The outer is black and was polished to a high sheen while the flat was stained with a custom mixed warm brown and finished with a matt wax.
The brown and black are evocative of the Spanish masters, Murillo, Velázquez and Goya who Gollon much admired and referred to in his work. He called these his 'Spanish Frames' and we also framed part of his cycle of paintings, the Stations of The Cross in this way. These are installed in the Church of St. John, Bethnal Green, London.
The canvas is size is 460 x 355 mm. and the frame is 570 x 465 mm overall.
