This mask is an artists proof from the edition shown at the Victoria & Albert Museum in 2013. It was taken from a life cast made in 1975 during the production of the Nicholas Roeg film The Man Who Fell to Earth.
The client requested that both sides of the mask should be visible, hence the double sided frame. The piece was mounted onto white conservation grade board with an aperture which follows the circumference of the mask itself. The interior of the box frame has been lined with the same conservation board and it has been glazed front and back with 2mm glass. The frame itself was specially fabricated in poplar wood and then painted with white earth pigment emulsion and sanded to a smooth finish.
The overall size is 340 x 250 x 103mm.
